5 Ways I Beat The Heat Last Summer Without An AC
Hack dry summer heat with these 5 tips to stay cool
Introduction
“The heat has been steadily rising and the summers have been getting increasingly hotter each year.”
Many of you might might have heard a friend, colleague, or loved one bemoan the weather using this particular statement.
However in my city, which is at an elevation from sea level, climate change affects us a bit differently. The summers have for sure, been getting hotter. But much more than the intensity of heat, it has been the duration for which it lingers that has been a determining factor that would make or break people’s resolve during this season.
This year’s summer was especially long stretching from March to June, with hotter days and even hotter nights, a great departure from what was considered to be normal during all the previous summers. We just got hit with the very worst of climate change this year. Even those sporadic summer showers, which drastically cooled the city down whenever the temperature hit peak levels during the summers, didn’t bring much reprieve as there was barely any surface left unpaved in the city for rainwater to percolate into the ground and recharge the groundwater table.
