I think I've been psychologically primed to LOVE summers to shreds for precisely this reason. It signalled happiness, joy, and freedom from the crushing mundaneness and monotony of school, home, tutions, and play for months and months together.
Summer (and peak winter) was the only time we could truly let loose, play all day under the scorching sun and enjoy our childhoods to the fullest without the stress and pressure of having to be home by a certain time, or wake up early for the school bus. It was pure heavenly bliss I tell ya!
