Its terrible how we're constantly trying to get men to respect women only by talking about their mothers and sisters. Its a very common tool used in India to discipline perverts. Once a pervert is caught here, the society lashes out at him saying "think of your mother or sister being catcalled on the road like that. would you tolerate it?".

The problem with this approach is that men are learning to respect women only when they have some kind of relationship going on with them, basically leading to the fallacy that women deserve respect from men only as long as they are someone's mother or sister. Basically as long as they are tied up with a man in some way or another.

(You could even use wife, girlfriend, niece, or any other way a woman can be related to a man to push this logic.)

But the truth is women deserve to be respected regardless, even if they have 0 relationships with men in any way whatsoever. men should be taught to respect other women because they are a human being who deserves respect, not because they are some mans wife/girlfriend/mother/sister/ etc. just saying.
