I've always felt glamourising the OT and late nights with selfies on Instagram were a coping mechanism and not a badge of honour. Because for most employees today, there cannot be another other badge of honour. So to fill in the void, that's the only one they can find.
I'd be on my way to a weekend trek in the woods, and during my journey I'd be scrolling Insta, and see a lot of people taking selfies with their laptops at coffee shops. And that's on a Friday night!
I think most people who are forced to put up with undue amount of work & end up working weekends (although in a coffee shop or at home) have adopted a rule of "glamourise your life, if your life isn't glamourous".
