Childfree people don’t have a stake in the future
With a phenomenal rise in traffic jams, extreme weather events, incidents of crowding and congestion, failing infrastructure, and subsequent fall in living standards by each and every single measure, an increasing number of Indians are waking up to the reality of overpopulation and how it is destroying our present reality and collective futures.
I had come across the concept of ‘antinatalism’ a couple of years ago while I was surfing the internet. I would later go on to become part of many groups devoted to the childfree cause on various platforms. On Medium, I began following many childfree authors and publications dedicated to the cause of antinatalism. Bella DePaulo, a vociferous advocate for singleness and being “single at heart” is the first that instantly comes to mind when I think about role models for singleness or childfree living on Medium.
A recent phenomenon that’s begun dominating the airwaves is the phenomenon of celebrated individuals from various quarters of society, whether political, industrial, or tech, asking people to procreate and have more kids to prevent the population from collapsing.
