OMG! This couldn't be any further from the truth there. I've seen people be all about "call me if you need anything", and " We're like family to you", only to see them disappear when you need with something that needs some kind of effort. Just like you said, they'll keep their word when it comes to helping you with something that lacks in substance that requires them to take the effort equivalent to that of a yawn. But they won't be there when you actually need them.
