This is something that so many people do not understand even when I tell them working at home is such a chore and the constant family drama sucks all the productivity out of me. They think having your own room is akin to having one's own office with all the freedom to work in.

In families such as ours, that just isn't the case as your senses are always "attuned to your parents yelling" never knowing whether a normal conversation or a full blown argument that requires your intervention is going on.
