This is the biggest tragedy of our times, especially amongst those of us who live in big metropolitan cities. The city has developed so rapidly over the years that we have everything one could ask for but no peace of mind. There is no amenity or service I can access in my city without encountering horrendous migraine-inducing traffic for at least an hour in either direction. There is no difference between weekdays and weekends anymore. All days look the same. Also, there is no difference between peak hour traffic and off peak hours, as its just peak hour traffic all day and night now.

You are absolutely right when you say "i might technically live in a place with more fun amenities but think about getting to them". We have huge parks for marathon training. We have big swimming pools to do long swims over a weekend. We have stunning and captivating hillocks right at the periphery of the city to enjoy some light day hikes.

But on most weekends my friends and I just make these plans and end up not doing any of them because the prospect of getting out onto the road again in stress inducing traffic just cancels out any benefit we could stand to gain from all these beautiful activities. I have to think thousand times before stepping out of the house to access anything.

Lovely article!
