Animal rights doesn’t have to come at the cost of human rights

Introduction

Back in 2015 when I left the very first startup I’d worked at, I was desperately searching for jobs where my skills would be a perfect fit. I searched for months together, but was completely out of luck. I would have found a job sooner, but hunting for jobs in India has the added filter of ‘distance from home’, which, due to inefficient public transport, poor connectivity, civic apathy, infrastructural issues, traffic congestion, and extreme weather events, can literally determine how you spend the rest of the non-working hours of your life. Non-working hours that are so critical and essential to personal well being in order to bring your very best self back to work. So naturally, a company’s location would be the first thing my eyes would instantly be drawn towards whenever I came across a potential job opening before even looking for details like Company Summary, Job Description, or Duties and Responsibilities.

Most companies that called were very far away, and the ones that were close by didn’t even bother shortlisting my CV.

One company that called me to interview was located more than 18kms from my house, which in Indian terms, means losing half your life just to your daily…
