Why I’m Sick and Fed Up of Being Vegan

I love veganism. But it just wasn’t sustainable for my lifestyle.

It’s been more than a year since I gave up the lifestyle I chose for myself more than a decade ago: Veganism. It had nothing to do with fatigue, brittle nails, my skin peeling out, or any other kind of deficiency. As a vegan, I consumed a varied diet, spent my time outdoors on most weekends, and took a B12 supplement on the regular. So thankfully, these weren’t any of the reasons for me to go back to meat eating or vegetarianism like it is for so many ex-vegans who narrate their stories on the ex-vegan subreddit.

I gave up veganism for the same reason so many people refuse to adopt it in the first place. Convenience!

It felt like the toughest most difficult thing to do wherever I went. Like I said in,“Here’s what no one tells you about going vegan”, being vegan felt like carrying a cranky infant that constantly needed to be fed and have its diaper changed wherever you went. The mindboggling insanity of it all was too hard to bear. Lifestyle is one of biggest factors that one needs to take into account before making the decision to go vegan.

My treks and travels most often put me in situations where getting food itself was a blessing, and being vegan — and by extension anything that did not align with the mainstream diet — was frustrating…
